This is a fungal infection (tinea pedis) that thrives best in areas warm and moist.
This fungal infection can spread rapidly to other parts of the body and this is the reason some people have difficulty eradicating it as they have a multiple infection. It can also be indication of a compromised immune system as in general fungas and yeast infections are infections that be resisted.
Excess use of antibiotics can also distroy "friendly" bacteria that help defend against it.
